According to Salto, the heavy-duty versions of the XS4 One S and XS4 Original+ series are available now. They are aimed at locations with increased protection requirements – the company names residential properties, server and technical rooms, critical care environments, public facilities and financial institutions as typical areas of application. Essentially, these are electronic door fittings that enable keyless access via RFID or smartphone, but are designed to be significantly more mechanically robust than the standard versions.

Certification according to EN 16867 and use up to RC3

A central feature of the new fittings is their certification according to the European standard EN 16867 for security fittings. In the test procedures, the models achieved classification 47-B24D23, which certifies high resistance to attacks. According to the manufacturer, the fittings are therefore suitable for use on burglary-resistant security doors up to resistance class RC3 in accordance with EN 1627. This class is considered suitable for areas in which experienced perpetrators and the use of tools such as crowbars or screwdrivers are to be expected.

To achieve these resistance values, Salto has reinforced the construction in several places. According to the company, there is a 4 millimeter thick security plate under the outer shield. The fastening screws, socket and square are provided with protective sleeves, and the bearing components have been designed for particularly long service life. In addition, sealed and corrosion-protected components as well as specially developed seals should protect the fittings from moisture so that they can function permanently even on external doors under difficult weather conditions.
